Born in Cleveland. I live in Houston and I’m just beginning a new job as an ethanol reporter for Argus Media.
Before beginning my new role at Argus, I worked as an Editor in the U.S. Western Operations Bureau of PR Newswire’s global news distribution services, working for clients coming out of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, Houston and Dallas. I gave tender love and care to press releases in a wide range of industries and handle highly sensitive and confidential financial news on a daily basis.
I also spent time blogging for PR Newswire’s internal news channel. I was responsible for posting all news in the Operations and Editorial departments. I was my bureau’s resident twitter expert and spent time training my bureau on the process of sending our SocialPost product. I was on the company-wide team of social media experts that troubleshoot and brainstorm new social media products, and was named a Product Champion for the company’s newest service that will provide mobile ad targeting.
I have a strong background in traditional journalism as well as web production and new media. I began writing for The Daily Texan in 2006 and later went on to report for The New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung and KUT 90.5. Four months after my graduation from The University of Texas at Austin I became a full-time Web producer for KTBC FOX 7.
In early 2009 I was hit by the great wave of media layoffs that shook the whole industry to its core. I spent time blogging about my days of unemployment, and Editor & Publisher called me a whippersnapper and gave me unsolicited career advice.
